| PRECAUTION |
1. The selection, placing and electrode distance of the oil sample before testing shall meet relevant national and industrial standards. 2. The operators or other personnel are strictly forbidden to touch the casing after the power is switched on to avoid accidents. 3. The power shall be cut off immediately if any abnormal event is found during the operation. 4. For a new oil cup or after cleaning, perform 24 breakdown tests before actual testing. When not in use, the oil cup should be soaked in clean oil. |
| Why Transformer Oil BDV Testing Is Required |
The breakdown voltage (BDV) of insulating oil is a critical indicator of its breakdown voltage and overall condition. Degraded, contaminated, or moisture-laden oil cannot withstand normal operating voltage stress and may lead to internal flashover, insulation failure, and catastrophic transformer damage. BDV testing is specified in IEC 60156, ASTM D1816, and ASTM D877, and is required during oil filling, routine maintenance, after filtration, and following any suspected contamination event. Regular BDV monitoring helps utilities and industrial operators decide when oil regeneration, filtration, or replacement is needed - before insulation failure occurs. The HZJQ-X1 is a portable automatic oil dielectric strength tester with output voltage up to 100 kV, featuring automatic voltage ramp, automatic stirring, digital display, automatic printing, and ±3% measurement accuracy - designed for safe, repeatable field and laboratory oil quality assessment. |
